KENYA DIASPORA INVESTMENT STRATEGY

The State Department for Diaspora Affairs is collecting information on opportunities and challenges encountered in making investments by the Kenyan Diaspora through administering the Diaspora Investment Strategy questionnaire. The data collected will be incorporated in preparing the inaugural Diaspora Investment Strategy.  The High Commission requests the Kenyan Diaspora in Uganda to complete the questionnaire which can be accessed through the link below.

KENYAN SCIENTISTS/SCHOLARS/INVENTORS/INNOVATORS IN THE DIASPORA

The National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation is mandated to regulate and assure quality in Science, Technology and Innovation sector by recognizing researchers through registration.

Towards this end the Commission is collecting data of Kenyan Scientists, Researchers, Scholars, Inventors, Innovators and award winners within the Kenyan Diaspora. The Data will also be incorporated in the development of a National Integrated Labour Migration Management Information System.

IVORY BELONGS TO THE ELEPHANTS CAMPAIGN

This is to inform that Dr. Jim Justus Nyamu, Cde’, OGW who is leading the East and Central Africa “Ivory Belongs to Elephants” awareness campaign walk is currently in Uganda (from 25th August 2023) for the second leg of his walk.

The campaign walk from Nairobi through Uganda, Rwanda and terminating in the Democratic Republic of Congo seeks to create awareness of the importance of conserving the African elephants across the East African region.

You are invited to join Dr. Nyamu during his walk and awareness campaign in the Republic of Uganda.

Kenya High Commission will join him at Mabira Forest (Mother Kevin College) on September 2, 2023 for at tree planting day and on Tuesday 5th September 2023 for a short walk from Kololo Airstrip. You are all welcome to join.

PHASING OUT OF THE OLD GENERATION PASSPORT

The Directorate of Immigration Services in the the Republic of Kenya informs the general public that Kenya is bound to migrate fully to to the new East African Community biometric e-passport by 30th November 2022. 

Kenyans are hereby advised to acquire the new biometric e-passport  to avoid any inconvenience. 

KRA VIRTUAL ENGAGEMENT WITH KENYANS IN UGANDA

Kenya Revenue Authority  (KRA) will host a webinar on September 22, 2022 to sensitize Kenyans living/working in Uganda on Tax and customs compliance.

e-Passport Applications

Commencement of receiving e-passport applications in the Kenya High Commission Kampala

  1. The commencement date for receiving applications for e-passports in the Kenya Foreign Missions is 1st August 2021
  2. All applications for e-passports shall be made online through the e-citizen portal, (https://passport.ecitizen.go.ke)
  3. The e-passport applicant must appear in person before an Immigration Attaché who will ascertain the citizenship of the applicant and the completeness of the online application
  4. The e-passport applicant shall avail the following documents to the Immigration attaché who shall scan and send them to the Directorate of Immigration Services Headquarters in Nairobi for processing and issuance of e-passports alongside:
  • Duly filled e-passport application form printout (form 19)
  • The payment receipts
  • ICAO standard recent passport size photo (2 by 2 inches) on a white background bearing the true likeness of the applicant but not older than 6 months
  • Specimen signature on a white background

Important Note

The Mission is currently ONLY receiving applications for renewal of passports
